Naming Your Cat-The Trick
You have finally gotten the feline you've always wanted. The next question is-what would you call it? You don't have to settle for a commonly used nickname like "fluffy". Learn more about your new pet first to help you decide for a moniker you and your family will love. Most owners baptise their kitten after a noticeable physical trait or habit. Here are some tips on how you can pick a name for your kitty.
- Find out whether it is a "he" or a "she". It would be embarrassing to have a male cat answer to "Princess". There are plenty of masculine and feminine names so, for sure, you can find something better than that.
- Take a close look at your pet's markings. You can call it "Pirate" when it has a large black splotch surrounding one of its eyes, or "Boots" when its paws are dark colour.
- Make sure that everyone in your family will like the new moniker. Have every member suggest at least three names and have them vote which one is the best.
- Pick one that reflects the feline's personality. If he or she is always jumping then then call him or her "Skipper" or "Bashful" if he or she is always hiding.
- Browse through a list of notable historical, mythological and fictional figures. "Achilles" for alpha males or "Cleopatra" after the famous queen of Egypt.
Also keep in mind that whatever you call your cat, it should be easy to remember and simple to pronounce.
