Keeping Your Kitten from Chewing Children's Toys

Imagine a home filled with laughter and purring. Well, if you have cats and children in one room, then that is exactly what you will hear. Some people find it adorable how totally different species can easily mingle. But there are times when playtime ends in disaster, especially if your adorable felines are chewing on your kid's dolls or robots. So how do you stop this annoying behaviour?

  • Provide your pets with their own chew toys. Since they tend to gnaw with just about anything, it is best that they have their own baubles to play with such as squeaky and squashy balls. It is important that they recognise what belongs to them, so they do not end up munching on your children's stuff. As soon as they start playing with something else, replace it with one of their own.
  • Youngsters should keep their hands off the kitten's playthings. That way, they do not end up fighting over them. Also, teach your little ones to store away their things once they are done using them. It will be easier on your part to train your cat if they are not distracted with other items scattered on the floor. That is also one way to keep your kid's stuff in good condition for a long time.
  • Use double sided tapes as cat repellent. Since felines dislike how their paws stick on the tape, they tend to stay away from it. You can cover certain areas of toys with this adhesive so that your kittens will ignore your kids' playthings.
